A TOWN CALLED SOMEWHERE
We went to a town, I am going to call, Somewhere. It is a nice little town. In this town, lives a man, we will call him Ray. His clothes is what he has on his back, his shoes are what been given to him. His electricity is the light from the sky. His chair might be a log to sit on. His books are at the library. He appreciate the arts and music. His bed is the soft ground or an old blanket he may have to lie on. This is the life he chose for whatever reason. And you know, as to why, it is none of our business. Only if he makes it so.
He is a friendly man. He does errands for different people in town, to provide him food, maybe a little cash, or whatever he needs. Most people, I think, accept him for the way he is and lives. Oh yea, I am sure there are people who look down their nose at him.
Ray was at a restaurant we happen to be in. A woman came in and asked if he payed his tab. Then she chuckled, and was making fun of him. She then went out of the restaurant, came back with a large snake skin, to make a statement as to how big the snake must have been. Then, she walked out, proceeded to leave the shed skin on the bench just outside the restaurant. The owner wasn't too happy about that. Neither was I. Yuck! A helper went out and removed the disgusting thing. What is my point here? This lady who was making an issue out of Ray, in my opinion, was disgusting.
People are being too busy being judgmental. Looking down on others, because they don't have. Or they are not perfect in looks. Because they are on food stamps. But yet, they are worse, when it comes to respecting or understanding. People are always saying, how others should be living. Maybe that person, wants to be that way.
I remember a movie Lucille Ball was in. She played a street person. She studied a woman on the streets to play the part. When she interviewed a homeless woman, the woman told her. "Me and a rich woman have a lot in common. We both have the same hairdo's, same taste in clothing." Remember, we probably have something in common with these people, but just afraid to admit to it.
All these postings I see about being proud of our Veterans. I find these are the same people putting down, those who have less. Oh, by the way, Ray is a Marine Vet-Vietnam.
Think about it!
