Happy Birthday Deirdre

Today is my Daughter's Birthday.  That year, it was the first day of Spring.  It was  Tuesday Morning.  Dreary day it was, and Cold.  I think the temps were probably in the  30s.  Bout 7 a.m.  I called my sister to come over and watch Chris while I was in the hospital.  She arrived, then we took off for the hospital.  I swear my husband was hitting every bump in the road.   He couldn't help it, the street we lived on was brick.

I carried her for about 9 1/2 months.  I thought this child wasn't going to ever come.  The months I carried her, I got to know her before she was born.   She loved music.  Any time she was too active, I would turn on the music and she would settle down.  I knew she was going to be a beautiful person, with a kind heart.   My little Angel.

We got to the hospital, she was born about noon.  She came out screaming, the minute she hit air.  Nothing wrong with this baby, lol.  Good set of lungs.  I held her in my arms, I felt the life in her.  She was so beautiful and precious.  She didn't like the bright lights.  Once  the lights were turned off, she quieted down.  And settle down in my arms.

They took me to my room, while they examined her.  I looked out a window, it was snowing.  Blizzard in fact.
She stayed in the room with me most of the time.  After she was fed, she would lay on top of my heart and go to sleep.  She had scratched her face pretty bad, so she had some red marks along one side of her face.

Her big brother got to come to the hospital to see his baby sister.  Him and Daddy went out and did some shopping for her.  Chris had picked out a little white  dress with ruffled edges and tiny pink flower print, with pink  panties.  Also, a little pink bunny.  I wish I had kept that bunny, I gave that bunny to her, for her babies.

Her little hands were so delicate and small.  She was a good baby too.   First night she was home from the hospital, she slept for 6 hours.  Its funny, I remember while in the hospital, the nurses were concerned.  It was unusual for a baby to sleep that well at night.  She was fine.   How I cherish those moments.

It snowed for the next 4 days I was in the hospital.   The day I went home, the snow was still coming.  The hospital, didn't want to release me.  I said no,  I want to go home, been here long enough.  On the way home it was like big soft snow balls hitting the wind shield of the car.  But we got home safe and sound, home with big brother and daddy.

That was 29 years ago.  Now she is married to a good man, and has 3 children of her own.  I will never forget my baby, no matter how old she is.

Happy Birthday Deirdre.
Mom Loves You
